Payment: I accept both PayPal and Venmo for payment. All editing services require a down-payment equal to ½ of project total due upon agreement and signing of the contract. This down-payment reserves your space in my schedule and covers operating costs when I put that time aside for your project. It is not refundable under any circumstances.

The final ½ of the agreed-upon price is due upon receiving the final edits. The final payment should be made within 3 days of receiving your edits. (I might be willing to discuss extended payment plans under special circumstances.)

Sample Edit: Upon initial contact to discuss possible services, you can request a complimentary sample edit of the first 1,500 words of your project in order to get a feel for my editing style and make sure I am a good fit for your needs.

Contract: Once you have received your sample edit, and have decided that you would like to secure my services, I will write up a brief contract laying out the details of editing service need, word count and final price, as well as how much is due as a down-payment, and when payment of the remainder of the balance is due.

Bundles: If you are interested in bundling several rounds of edits we can discuss bundled/discounted rates.Such bundles will require a contract with down-payments and installment payments for all edits agreed to in advance, with the understanding that you will follow through with the entire agreed-upon package. I am setting aside a significant chunk of time for such a package (possibly turning away other potential clients) and it is inappropriate to disappear on an editor before the project is complete.

A Note On Writer Responsibilities: Any editing I provide, even at the developmental stage, is meant to help you make the writing as strong as it can possibly be, but it is not a replacement for authorial responsibility to revise your own work. It is expected that any manuscript you send in for editing services at any stage should, AT MINIMUM, be properly formatted (for paragraphs, dialogue markers, etc) to the best of your ability, and that you have read over it at least once with an eye to basic revision and self-editing.
